Northern is one of 478 institutions to earn this prestigious classification, which recognizes institutions that provide higher than expected levels of access to low-income and underrepresented students, and their students experience strong earnings outcomes.
Apr 17, 2026 Two Northern New Mexico College students receive N3B scholarships Pursuing their degrees just got a little easier for Esperanza Gonzales and Josiah Martinez, two Northern New Mexico College recipients of the Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos (N3B) Danny Nichols and Dennis Huddleston Memorial Scholarship. These two remarkable students have persevered despite major obstacles throughout their lives. Now one obstacle is removed. Gonzales, Martinez and University of New Mexico-Los Alamos student Jimmy Gurule will each receiving a $9,000 scholarship to ease their financial burdens.

Apr 01, 2026 Española Gloveworks Featured on KRQE for Innovative Parkinson’s Research Española Gloveworks, a collaboration between Northern New Mexico College’s Engineering program and Española Valley High School’s MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) program, was featured on KRQE News 13 on March 31, 2026. Reporter Natasha Lynn visited the EVHS campus to interview NNMC Associate Professor Steve Cox and students involved in the project. Española Gloveworks is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that grew out of the Parkinson’s Glove Project, an initiative launched three years ago to develop wearable technology that helps reduce symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
Mar 27, 2026 NNMC Joins New Mexico Open Educational Resources Consortium to Expand Textbook Affordability The New Mexico Open Educational Resources (NMOER) Consortium is proud to announce that Northern New Mexico College (NNMC) has officially joined as its fourth member. As part of this new partnership, NNMC has been awarded a $6,000 grant to promote the use of Open Educational Resources (OER) on its campus, further strengthening the state’s commitment to college affordability. The consortium works to replace traditional, high-cost textbooks with openly licensed materials that are free for students to use, share, and keep.
